The story you do not know

It all began on… 28 December 1959 from the 1:1 scale plasticine model that presented the final version of the 901 model. After the approval of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the construction and manufacture of the new model was approved by Ferdinand’s father. The finished vehicle was presented on 24 January 1962 by the technician, Hans Tomal. The car had the MacPerson front suspension with torsion bar, centrally-located rack and pinion steering transmission, as well as air-cooled boxer engine with upper camshaft and dry oil sump. Over the next years, it turned out that this idea was the great success, because it gave the 901 series, and then the 911 series, the unprecedented developmental potential.
